I was honored to facilitate a chat: Maximizing therapy: Tips for getting the most out of session. I am optimistic about the evolution of Black Mental Health. I love that Black people are a part of the mental health conversation. With that said, many still don’t understand the process of therapy- who goes? what is it? what are some reasons people start therapy? what are the benefits? I facilitated a conversation about vulnerability and specifically how it relates to Black mental wellness. I discussed how to choose a therapist, different treatment modalities, what to expect from therapy, and how to track our progress. This chat was interactive because attendees had lots of questions, it was great! After the chat, I also had one-on-one coaching sessions. I listened to challenges and questions that people were facing. I gave my opinions about things that may be helpful to explore and provided tools like therapy recommendations, book resources, or other useful information to point people in the right direction toward their healing journeys. This weekend was so magical and fun.
