Health of Sex and Connection
Through Elevate theater company, here is an original play Being You by co-playwrights Christina D. Eskridge and Courtney Bottomley. The show explores themes of sex, dating, connection and friendship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterwards, I was a part of a panel and discussed how to cope with loneliness and how to stay connected with others.
Health of Our Protest
Racism is a public health crisis. This was made acutely apparent in 2020 with the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and others. Elevate exists to spotlight the stories and experiences of people through the lens of public health. Through theatrical spoken word and poetry we will explore this public health crisis and examine how to transform struggle into resilience. After the performance, I was a part of a panel of experts to explore the topic of Black fatigue. My role: to provide mental health awareness around Black fatigue and explore coping strategies.
Setting Boundaries
Hanna (from Advice from Hanna Podcast) and I discussed setting boundaries. This conversation was important since it’s the holiday season and many of us will need to establish boundaries when planning (or not planning) gatherings during COVID-19. We also discussed the importance of being ourselves, personal stories about growing up, the power of saying “no”, and our love for “Old” Kanye West. lol.

Coping with Loss
Trap Yoga Bae and I discussed coping with loss. I help viewers understand the difference between depression associated with grief and other forms of depression. We discussed the stages of grief, coping, warning signs (when to seek help) and healing,
Coping with Change
The women of the Surviving Adulthood podcast and I discuss how to manage change and life’s transitions. I discuss how to manage anxiety and depression; including journal writing and mindfulness techniques. My focus was to highlight that we are already the experts of change.
Healing During COVID-19
Nelia (host of Healing All Year podcast) and I discussed how to heal and cope during uncertain times. We defined for ourselves what is healing and how that can be used to assist in our coping strategies. We discussed how to heal ourselves, explore personal goals, and maintain relationships with our loved ones.
